What are your life raft verses?

Last week, we talked about being caught in the tunnel, one of the storms in life. And sometimes, we know we need to keep going for the light, but it’s hard. And that’s when we need those little life rafts. Those things that we cling to in the midst of the darkness to keep us going. And this is where scripture is so important. Those life raft verses, as I like to call them, that we either memorize, we write down, we put in our notes in our phone that I can flip out, and read, when I’m anxious, when I’m worried, when I’m downright fearful to get me back on track. For me, two of my favorites, one is John 3:16, “God so loved the world…” and Romans 8, “nothing can separate us from the love of Christ…” Those are my life raft verses. When I’m anxious, when I’m worried, when I’m angry, I can remind myself of those calming words. They remind me God’s in charge and he is what I need to cling to. Life has lots of storms. Life has lots of darkness. And sometimes we can feel like we’re just treading water and we’re getting pretty tired. We need something to cling to. That’s where the scriptures are so important. Have those life raft verses, those little quick versus that we can memorize or pull up on our phone. To remind us, that’s what we cling to. That is where our security comes from. What are those life references that maybe we need to remind ourselves of in our lives?
