Types of Prayer Series (Part 4): Adoration | Jolt of Faith+ 10/9

In this week’s Jolt of Faith, we conclude our Types of Prayer Series with one of the most challenging—and most powerful—forms of prayer: adoration. Adoration is about simply sitting in the presence of God. Not asking for anything. Not even saying anything. Just being with Him, the way you can sit with a close friend in comfortable silence.

Though it may be difficult, adoration allows us to rest in God’s love, open our hearts to His movement, and stand in awe of His greatness. It’s not about words—it’s about presence, wonder, and deepening our relationship with the God who created, redeemed, and loves us.

Take a moment to pause, be still, and enter into adoration with God.

Types of Prayer Series (Part 4): Adoration | Jolt of Faith+ 10/9

Last type of prayer, I want to talk about is the prayer of adoration. It’s why just sitting God’s presence. I don’t ask for anything, I’m not necessarily thanking God for anything, but I’m just sitting in the presence of God, strengthening my connection, strengthening my relationship. It’s kind of like when you’re a good enough friend with someone that you can just sit there without saying anything, it’s just enjoying being in each other’s presence. Now, this is probably the most challenging type of prayer. for all of us but it needs to be part of our prayer repertoire. This sometimes sitting in the presence of God and just letting our minds be open to what God may put there or God may move us and what God may remind us of. Again, it’s challenging. But it needs to be something we try to practice from time to time because being in the presence of God’s awesomeness and recognizing that no words can capture that. But simply sitting there and adoring, the God who created me, the God Who redeems me and the God who continues to love me. Not a sermon, not a homily, but just that little Jolt of Faith.
