Congratulations on the birth or upcoming birth of your child! No matter the stage of parenting you are currently in, you have been entrusted with a great gift from God. In your role as a parent, you serve as the first and most influential teacher of your child’s faith. St. Joseph will help prepare you for this role which starts with Baptism and continues until your child receives Confirmation.
The Sacrament of Baptism is most frequently celebrated as a separate rite on Saturday’s but may also be celebrated during a Mass. We also offer “Communal Baptisms” once a month on Saturdays at 10:00 am where a number of babies can be baptized.
Scheduling a Baptism
- Complete and submit a Baptism registration form to the parish office at office@sjcmmd.org at least 3-6 months before the requested date. Guidelines for selecting Godparents are on the back of the form.
- Submit a copy of the child’s birth certificate.
- Submit the Godparent form/Christian Witness form for each Godparent.
Baptism Preparation Sessions are held via zoom; registration is required. Please call (301.663.0907) or email our Parish Office to register for the class or to schedule a Baptism.
If you have been asked to be a Godparent for a child who is being baptized at a different parish, the following form can be used if one is not provided.
