Putting Christ Front and Center | Jolt of Faith 12/18
As we continue to talk about, how do I prepare for Advent? One of the great ways we do that is by making Christ front and center. You know what always strikes me when I go to someone’s home around this time of year, you know, it’s all decked out. Santa Claus is there. Rudolph, Frosty, the Christmas tree all the things that celebrate and epitomize and identify the holiday. Let’s ask ourselves. Where is Jesus. I know it sounds crazy but do I have a nativity scene in my home? Is it not just tucked somewhere under the tree. But is it front and center? To proclaim to me and to everyone who comes into my home, that this is the reason for the season, Jesus is the focus. Something as simple as putting my nativity scene, a) having one and b) putting it somewhere front and center is important to set the stage, to set the tone about what the season is all about. As we prepare and get so close to the great feast of Christmas, is this celebration really about Christ? Or sadly have I gotten caught up in all of the worldly celebrations and he has been forgotten. By placing Christ front and center in my home. It reminds me my family and everyone who enters, what this season is really ultimately, about. Not just the celebration of a festive season, but the celebration of the birth of our Savior. During these last few days of Advent, am I not going to only physically, put Christ’s birth at the center, but also spiritually put it as center of my life as well? Not a sermon, not a homily just that little Jolt of Faith.
