Mary, Mediatrix of All Graces | Jolt of Faith | 5/14/26

As the Church honors Mary throughout the month of May, this of Jolt of Faith reflects on one of her important titles: Mediatrix of All Graces. What does this title mean, and how does Mary help bring God’s grace into our lives — especially during difficult moments?

Through personal experiences of loss, illness, and prayer, this reflection reminds us that Mary is not a “magic solution” to our problems, but a loving mother who helps obtain the grace, strength, and peace we need to endure life’s hardest challenges and remember that we are never alone.

In the church, the month of May have has always been devoted to Our Lady. So for the next few videos, myself and Seminarian Anderson, will be making a guest appearance in later videos are to be talking about various titles of Mary that people often hear and what they mean to the church and what they mean to us. So for this week, I’m going to use the title of Mediatrix of all Graces. And what that title means is that Mary typically is the one that is the doorway, or the key that opens up for us, graces with God.It doesn’t mean that Graces can only come from her. It just means that that is a special role, she has in bringing those Graces into our lives when we need them most. And in my own life, I can think of two difficult, but powerful experiences of feeling that. A few times, I’ve pray to Our Lady to fix something and she didn’t do exactly what I asked her to do. The first was when my Nana was diagnosed with cancer, just four weeks after I was ordained, a priest and died 10 weeks later. And when I am myself, I was diagnosed with a pretty aggressive form of cancer. And in both those cases, I prayed for a miracle which I did not get. But in retrospect I see the grace that she did give to me to handle those two very difficult and trying situations and to realize that I was never alone. So our Lady Mediatrix of all Graces doesn’t always mean it’s a magic lamp I just rub and get what I want, that it means that Mary will obtain for us the grace we need to bare those difficult and challenging situations that sometimes come into our lives as well. So we feel like we’re at our ropes end, we feel like we have nowhere else to turn, don’t forget to turn to Mary to bring us that special grace, we may need in our lives. Not a sermon, not a homily, but just a little Jolt of Faith.
