In this past weekend’s gospel, we heard Saint John the Baptist literally point out Jesus to his apostles and say, ‘there is the lamb of God.’ John’s role as the forerunner was to prepare the way for the Lord. Just as he did, each of us, by virtue of our baptism, is called to point others to Christ. It doesn’t require standing on a street corner, but our words, actions, and decisions should reflect Christ. Do my words speak kindly? Do my actions live the faith I profess? Do my decisions align with the values of the gospel? As disciples, our purpose is to point others to Christ, not just with words but, more importantly, with our actions.
