Jolt of Faith 11/7 – Remembering Our Heavenly Home

We reflect on the ancient phrase Memento Mori, or “Remember death,” which invites us to acknowledge the brevity of life and to look forward with hope. In our Catholic tradition, this reminder serves as a call to think about the life after this one and our ultimate destination. Jesus opened heaven for us through His sacrifice, and in our spirit, we are already united with Him. Saint Thomas Aquinas reminds us that the saints contemplated their heavenly homeland every day, inspiring us to set our hearts and minds on eternity.

Let’s take a moment today to set our sights on heaven, to remember the eternal rest awaiting us with God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and all the saints. It’s a powerful reminder to live for eternity every single day.
