Ember Days

Ember Days are an ancient practice of the Church dating back to the 5th Century. They happen four times during the year at the changing of the seasons. The next set of Ember Days are coming up on September 22nd, 24th, and 25th. They are days of prayer and fasting and a time to give our thanks to God for His great gifts to us. We at St. John’s and St. Joseph would like to renew the celebration of these days in a special way.

On September 22 we will as pastorate engage in a Day of Gratitude in which we will intentionally participate together by prayer, by doing a special good deed for someone else, by possibly making a special visit to the Exposed Blessed Sacrament at church, or in some other action that expresses to God our gratitude.

On September 24 at 7:30 pm, we invite everyone to St. John’s for an hour of Prayer and Song hosted by Dr. Nae Pearson and the music ministry of St. John’s.

On September 25, we invite everyone to participate in a Morning of Reflection from 9:00 am until 11:30am focused on the Eucharist led by our Pastor, Fr. John Williamson.
