Does Jesus Get My Best? | Jolt of Faith+| 11/20

As we prepare for the Feast of Christ the King, this week’s Jolt of Faith invites us to pause and reflect on a simple but challenging question:

If Jesus is truly my King… does He get the best of me?

Or does He often get what’s left over?

In this short reflection, we explore:

🔸 What loyalty to a king meant historically

🔸 How that connects to our relationship with Jesus today

🔸 Whether God receives the best of our time, attention, prayer, and resources

🔸 How to renew our priorities as disciples of Christ

🔸 A gentle invitation to give Jesus the best of who we are

Another concept to focus on as we prepare for the celebration of Christ  the King is that kings demanded loyalty.

You were loyal to the king. You follow them into battle. You follow them by giving them your best land or your best horses. In other words, they got the best of what you had to offer. Does Jesus really get the best of what I have to offer?  Does He get the best of my time? Does He get the best of my attention? Does He get the best of my resources or sadly does God often get the leftovers? When it comes to prayer, do I make prayer priority? Did I pray when I’m awake and paying attention and being able to be engaged or do I simply mutter a few words as I’m ready to fall asleep as I’m rolling into bed. Do I give Jesus the best of what I have? Do I use my resources to serve myself and then whatever is left over, I might not need, that’s what I think about giving to Him or the poor. I think if we really going to say Jesus is our King, it means He needs to get the best of who we are and what we have to offer. And I think again that gives us a lot to think about. Is Jesus truly the King, who’s getting the best of me and the best of what I have to offer as well. Not a sermon, not a homily just that little Jolt of Faith to get us thinking.
