As we come together to celebrate Thanksgiving, it’s a wonderful opportunity to ponder, “How can we cultivate an attitude of gratitude?” One practice, recommended to me by a spiritual director years ago, has made a profound impact on my life, and I’d like to share it with you. Every day, take a moment to give thanks to God for one gift, no matter how small or seemingly ordinary. It could be as simple as a sunrise, a beautiful flower, or even a delicious hamburger. The key is to pause and acknowledge the remarkable things that happen, the gifts, both big and small, that fill our lives day in and day out. This little daily practice has made me more appreciative of the often unnoticed blessings that surround us. It’s a practice we can embrace not only on Thanksgiving but every day of the year. By taking a moment each day to thank God for one gift, we become more aware of the many blessings He showers upon us consistently.
