To recognize the steadfast commitment of First Responders throughout the city of Frederick and implore God’s blessing upon them, a special Blue Mass will be celebrated at St. John on Thursday, October 20th at 7:00 pm. We will honor our fallen heroes who lost their lives in the last year and ask for God’s intercession for those seriously injured in the line of duty.
The Blue Mass is an opportunity to pay tribute to law enforcement officers, firefighters, paramedics, emergency medical technicians, and all public safety professionals who serve with valor and integrity – both active and retired.
We encourage our first responders to wear their uniforms and invite them to bring their family and friends. A reception in the parish hall will follow the Mass.
All are warmly welcome, regardless of faith tradition.
We will honor the following heroes in our Mass, the highest prayer of the Catholic Church:
Frederick Police Department:
Lt. Andrew “Stew” Alcorn IV
OFC Greg Santangelo
Seriously Injured in the Line of Duty:
Officer Bryan Snyder
Officer Kristen Kowalsky
Frederick County Division of Fire and Rescue Services:
Battalion Chief Joshua Laird
Battalion Chief Christopher Morlan
Firefighter III David Esposito
We welcome the families of the above First Responders as our honored guests.
